McCain Potato Cheese Shotz

I bought a packet of these sometime back. I was having a party and wanted something that was cheesy and could be hussled up in a hurry – didn’t want to waste time in the kitchen when I had a group of about 1o guests to mingle with.

I tried these out a few days before the party, just to be sure they were tasty. Glad I tried themĀ out before the party – the shotz were sooooo average.

A packet of 250 gms for Rs. 110. Reasonable.

So, for my party, I bought 3-4 large packets of McCain Smiles and they were a hit with the group.

McCain Smiles

This is the 2nd product from McCain I tried. Smiles. Got a smile to my face.

Packet of 9 pieces is for Rs. 35.

McCain Aloo Tikki

McCain is a brand many people I know love. Never had tried it, till sometime ago. I agree with all of them – their products are very good. Worth it.

I tried their Aloo Tikki. Picked up the small packet of 4 pieces at Rs. 37.

Puffmaster Premium Toast

Another product from Puffmaster is their Premium Toast – I really like it. These are 2″ toasts to be dipped in tea and enjoyed. And enjoy do we!.

Look-wise, they are dainty little 2″ pieces of toast, but they pack a mouthful on eating. As should be, they are extremely well-toasted, so each bite gets a ‘crunchy’ sound out of the mouth. Dip it in tea and eat and relish the evening snack.

Again, as with Puffmaster’s other product, this too is priced higher than other brands in its category but the packaging and flavour make up for the pricing.

At Rs. 50 for 200 gms., they make a lovely accompaniment to tea. Crunchy when you bite but melt-in-the-mouth, these biscuits are perfect for a evening snack with tea. (I had mine with black coffee).

Its premium pricing for khari biscuits but it comes well packaged and you get un-broken pieces when you open the packaging. Taste-wise, they are absolutely fresh tasting and are just perfect – just as a khari biscuit should be! Enjoy.

Nestea – Lemon

Made this last evening. I was out of the house all day. Came home and wanted a cold drink. Instead of my usual Coke (I try to avoid as much as possible), I decided to try this pack I had recently bought.

Just add cold water and cold Iced Tea is ready to be sipped. Its quite decent. It is quite refreshing. For a quick fix solution to an immediate serving of Ice Tea, I recommend it. This pack makes about 5 glasses

Reliance Masti Oye – Saucy Tomato Potato Chips

Reliance Potato chips - Saucy tomato

Reliance Potato chips – Saucy tomato

Reliance is into potato chips!

Reliance – irrespective of whether it is Reliance of Anil Ambani or Mukesh Ambani – but these guys are now everywhere.

Reliance as a brand name was initially into Petro-chemicals, Natural Resources, then into Telecom. A few years ago, they got into Hypermarkets and Supermarkets, selling garments, then fresh produce and now POTATO CHIPS!

Well not just chips it is – its Bhujia’s and other packaged savories and ATTA – yes ATTA, and they now also sell spices such as Red Chili powder and Turmeric powder. They are now everywhere in a grocery store. Their mantra is very simple – manufacture a product – brand it and market it at the lowest price. That’s the way they slowly, but steadily garner the market-shares. SIMPLE.

Well, the Saucy Tomato is excellent. Its over achieves on the flavour. Very well spiced.

The number one spot for potato chips is still Pringles. However, Lay’s – the all time 2nd, is being given a run by Reliance, Diamond (featured earlier in my blog) and others. In the tomato flavour, I will always now pick Reliance or Diamond.

Yellow Diamond Potato Chips – Tom-Chi

Yellow Diamond Potato chips – Tom Chi

I bought this at Churchgate railway station. I did have a choice between this and Lay’s but as much as I enjoy Lay’s, thought I would try this brand.

Good choice.

It packs a whole load of zing and zest in every chip. You can’t have just one!

Where Lay’s gives you only 26g of net weight at Rs. 10, this gets you 40g at the same cost and tastes much more zing-ier than Lay’s Spanish Tomato flavoured chips.
