Its the newest QSR to open up in South Mumbai. (QSR = Quick Service Restaurant).
Its replaced the CCD on SBS Road. Its a small self-service restaurant serving Mexican food. Mexiloko started by 4 partners, opened its doors just a few days ago. I visited this place earlier today for lunch.
The eatery has 2 tables for 4 and then a side table with bar stools for another 4 customers. I reached the place at 12:45 with my husband and we got a table. 20 minutes later and all the chairs were occupied and there were a few people waiting for a table! Kudos to the place.
So….what did I think of Mexiloko? Lunch-time was the wrong time to visit it. Its cheap as its pricing is in the Rs. 100 – Rs.200 range but then the quantity too is lesser. Not knowing the portion size of the dishes, we told the cashier to keep out tab open till we were done.
Started by ordering the Golden Nachos and the Slushy Virgin Margarita.
Don’t it look divine? Its good. The tortilla chips has a distinct maize taste, as should be. Priced at Rs. 100, its a decent deal but found the quantity a bit disappointing.
The Slushy Virgin Margarita is fantastic – just perfect, especially now in summertime. We spoke to one of the partners and he said they made the mix fresh, every morning – one can taste that freshness. Price Rs. 40. Its a must have.
Next was the Zesty Soya Bowl. Its spiced soya mince layered with spinach and tomato Mexican rice, refried beans and salsa, topped with lettuce and pico.
At Rs. 160, it delivers on taste – its nice. However, as a main dish it’s not enough.
The best was the BBQ Chicken Burrito. Priced at Rs. 160, it was a good meal. well-stuffed, full of flavour and wholesome.
Our final order of the day was the Smokin Hot Veg taco at Rs. 120. Spicy as hell, true to its name : )
It was decent.
All this eaten, we ran up a tab of Rs. 580 only.
Verdict – go there for a snack. Portion sizes are small and taste is average.
